It's clear that 99% of all mental health problems stem from the same issue of not being able to regulate our own emotions. How much time and energy is wasted waiting for diagnoses of specific problems, when the treatment seems to be the same?
There are other things like nutrition, a tidy house, spending time with others, doing things we enjoy, that can make us feel better. The problem is, as soon as we feel overwhelmed, fed up, bored, tired, etc., we give up. We let our emotions control our actions because we never learned how to regulate them.
Imagine if they added therapist-recommended coping skills lessons in schools.
Imagine if everyone could have their own opinion without causing others to rage. Then the ragers wouldn't feel compelled to control others because they believe others opinions are wrong. Bringing in laws just because a group feels so offended by another's opinion.
You can't control others, but you can control yourself. Blaming others for your own emotions will never fix the root problem.
We need to work out what the problem is and find the root cause. Take some responsibility for our own actions by accepting reality through self-reflection. Then work on ourselves so we can work on our environment.
It's impossible for one person to change the world, but one person can change their world within.
I hope you found my website useful, and thank you so much for taking the time to read it. I wish you all the best on your healing journey; together we can make a real difference for our own lives and the lives of generations to come.
I was watching 'Angry Birds' the other day with my youngest. I noticed how every kids film or programme that has had a therapist in it seems to be portrayed as cuckoo. It made me think about when I looked into how to become a therapist; it takes a good 10 years to become one. That's probably why it's hard to get access to them; there's not enough. Why is it so hard to get the help that, in my opinion, 90% of us actually need? I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that if everyone had therapy and learned how to cope, the pharmaceutical companies would lose billions in profit from God knows how many different types of medication? Who actually owns those companies? What else do they own? 'Hmmmm, I wonder?'
